Crystalco inside the life of a new mommy

I am sure everyone has dealt with breaking a child off of a bottle or has heard about someone trying to break a child off of a bottle and some take months to do. Well our child was broke off of the bottle in one day! I went to the dollar general that morning and I got a sippy cup that holds 10oz so it holds enough milk for a 9 month old. The sippy cup has a silicone nippy which is the same texture as the nipple of a bottle but it is a sippy cup nipple. He loved it and has not had a bottle in a month now and never cried,fussed,or acted like he missed it. So now 1 month later he drinks out of a regular sippy cup and he is 10 months.  People might think its to young to take a bottle away from a 9 month old but I think if they will drink out of a sippy cup then they are ready. I believe it also is a good thing if they have teeth because he was wanting to chew on his bottle nipple and they are really soft and I was scared he would bite a piece off and choke. I hope that if you are trying to break a child off of the bottle this information was helpful.

So I have not been posting on my blog lately because everyone knows when you are a parent to a young baby most of your time is spent tending to them.  Will is know 4 months old and and is teething and if you have read any of my other postings we do not want to used all the bad stuff like oral gel or pain medicine because there is so many terrible things in them so i have found that using frozen fruit works great. I sliced pears and apples and put them up to make him baby food and i just took some out and I let him naw on it while its frozen and boy does it work! I have tried teethers and pacifiers that are for teething and he does not want anything to do with them. So if you have a baby that is teething and do not want to put all the bad stuff in their body try the frozen fruit and let me know how it does for you!

So I am not big on dressing up like scary people and stuff for Halloween but i wanted to dress little man up so I could get some really good pictures of him with it being the first Halloween!  So guess what Will is going to be a MONKEY!! Mommy and Daddy really think monkeys are so cute. So enough with the Halloween talk and a Update on little man. So Will is a little over 2 months now and boy do they grow super fast! He is holding his head up so much better now and has gotten so much better at sleeping through the nights most of the time. Which probably has something to do with he gets cereal at night.  I never knew it would be so hard to get a child on a routine but I will be the first to say its a challenge  and when they say it only take a week or so I would like to know what they are doing different because it is taking longer than a week! I have not been updating like i need to so i am going to try to update more often hopefully!!

So as a new mom you learn a whole bunch of stuff! One of the things you have to learn is when to know if they are hungry or just fussing over something else! Well lets see Will was 4 weeks yesterday and he eats about 4-5 ounces every 1 1/2 to 2 hours and I wonder if that is normal for a 4 week old. Every doctor will tell you something different but I have got to the point where if my little Will is hungry he will eat. I have came to the conclusion if he is eating on his hands and trying to eat my shirt and crying than he is hungry and not just wanting to fuss. Will has gotten so much better about staying up during the day and sleeping some at night (Better than it was).  So for those who listens to the doctor all the time I say every baby is different so they do not know exactly what is right or wrong! So just keep feeding your little one and see what happens!

So as everyone knows how much it cost to buy clothes rather you have a baby or not because our clothes are just about the same amount as a baby clothes! So i am just not in to spending 15 dollars for a pair of jeans for Will that he is going to wear for 2 months or so! So guess what i did i went to a consignment sale that was just kids clothes and i got name brand clothes with tags on most of them! I got 15 outfits for the cost of 2 or so at the store! I would highly recommend if you have a baby to go to consignment sales! They are awesome!!!

Will was so tired after a long day!!!!

So yesterday Will was 3 weeks and i am just so amazed how much he has changed since birth. Normally a baby will lose quite a bit of weight after birth and by the age of 2 weeks the doctors just want your baby to be back up to birth weight. Well Our little guy was 6lbs 14 ounces when he was born and lost down to 6lbs 8 ounces well guess what Will weighs about 8lbs 10 ounces now! Its amazing when you breast feed how much better it is for your child. I have had to start the past few days giving him breast milk and formula and seems to still be gaining weight so i am not concerned to much!

Just be prepared to deal with constipation for a day or so when you bring formula into the picture because i learned that breast milk is a natural laxative so that is why breast feed babies go more frequent than formula feed babies. But we have got it in control though! Yay

The perfect little family!!

This is going to list the top 5 items a new mommy needs! Everyone has their own opinion but i would say that most people would most likely agree with me on some of these items!

1. Chicco Stroller/Car seat combo- When i was pregnant i done a lot of research trying to find a really good safe car seat for Will.  It was a little challenging because so many car seats have recalls and the last thing i was going to do was buy something that was not safe for him.  The Chicco brand is a little more expensive but when it comes to your baby safety a couple dollars more should not be a problem! I know that Will's safety is the most important thing so i am going to do anything and everything to make sure he is safe!

2. Medela Breast Pump- I have heard so many terrible stories when it comes to pumping. Well let me tell you if you want to pump and be comfortable than you need to invest in a medela breast pump. Do not go to Wal-mart and buy a breast pump if you plan on pumping all the time because the pumps there will not do the job! The best place to buy a pump would be somewhere like babies r us they have everything for them all the parts if something was to mess up on it. The medela pump is fast,convenient,and so easy to take on the go. If you ever needed to pump and not somewhere where you can plug it up you can still use it! The medela pump also takes batteries which is so wonderful.

3. Infantino Baby Sling- I received an Infantino baby sling for a baby gift and it is so fantastic! It is so easy to put Will in and take him out. When you go shopping it is so nice to not have to carry the car seat around! I also have a backpack to put Will in but he does not like it and with the sling if you breast feed you can breast feed while he is in the sling.

4.Summer Infant Mother's Touch Large Comfort Bather - This bather is the best one out on the market right now! Unlike all those big plastic bath tubs that are so hard to find a place to put it this bather you can just fold up and store under the counter or in the linen closet. It is secure and dries really fast and i never have to worry that he will slide out. They sell this bather at babies r us and if you are expecting or have a newborn you really need to invest in bather.

5. Bottle cooler- Every new mom knows that you can not let formula sit in the heat because it will go bad and so when you are on the go you have to keep the formula cool and that is when a bottle cooler is necessary!  I love mine it just fits right down in my diaper bag so perfect! You can find a bottle cooler anywhere that baby products are sold! Babies r us sells them and they range from 9.99-19.99 but they are well worth it!

Yesterday I went shopping with Will and our aunt got us this great gift it is a sling.  I really did not know how well he was going to do with it but believe it or not he done fantastic he slept and just laid there! Its so easy to shop with it you do not have to try to carry that car seat around or mess with loading and the unloading the stroller! I will use this product forever well until he grows out of it. Its easy to put him in it or take him out i would recommend it to anyone who has a newborn baby or even a baby a few months old! If you want to be able to enjoy shopping with out all the heavy lifting then you need a sling!

Today my mom left to go back home! She had came to see the birth of her first grand child and which she got here before he was born. She has been such a help with everything. Will and I are going to miss her so much. I know she has a husband though at home that she was starting to really miss because she had been done here since July21! Will and I will be seeing her again soon hopefully around the holiday's she will make a trip down to see us. But before she left Will's gram took some really good pictures of us so we could have some to look back on because they grow so fast its hard to believe he is already 2 weeks old! Nana We will miss you if you ever get on to look at our blog!
